Term 1 Week 3 Addition and Subtraction

Ms.smith bought 125 water balloons for the water fun day
Miss. Kyee bought 52 more water balloons
For a water fun day. So I had to figure out how many did
Miss. Smith and miss. Kyee buy all together

This is how I solved this problem so the problem was 125 + 52=177
                              So I did 100+50=150 then I did 25 + 2= 27
Then I added them all up together 150 +27= 177

That was how I got my answer 177.

Ms. smith brought 85 water balloons
for the water fun day
and ms. kyee brought 52 more.
How many water balloons did ms.smith and
ms. kyee buy altogether 85+52=

So this is how i solved this problem i did 80 + 50=130
and then did 5+2= 7
then i added it all together 130+7=137
that is how i got my answer.

week 1 term 1-2020

there are 8 pencils in a box. AJ has 15 box of pencils how  many pencils are altogether ?

15 x 8=

10 x 8=80

5 x 8= 40

80 + 40= 120

to solve this problem I used place value portioning I multiplied 10 by 8 and got 80 them I multiplied 5 by 8 and got 40 as the answer then added 80 and 40 so AJ has 120 pencils.

Answer
Sol solve place value word pro problem
While exploring Skeleton Island,Lance and his friends found a large bag of money hidden in a cave. The bag was full of $200,$100,$50,$20,$10,$5,$2 notes and coins. After counting the money for a whole night they came up with this figure.$997
How many of each note and coins do you think they counted?
4 x $200 = $800
1 x $100 = $100
$800 + $100 =$900

$800 + $100 = $900

1 x $50 = $50
1 x 20 = $20

$50 + $20  + $20 = $90

1 x $5 = $5
1 x $2 = $2

5 + 2 = $7

Problem: Miss Stone has ordered a huge box of lollies for the class. The box contains 12 packets of lollies. In each packet there are 14 lollies. How many lollies does Miss Stone have altogether?

My strategy:
